English II Honors

Welcome to the British Literature page. Please familiarize yourself with the Favorite Resources as well as the general layout of my taskstream page. You will find daily homework assignments here, so my expectation is that you are as up-to-date as possible even if you are absent from class. Remember to seek the help of your classmates and make the most of our fast-paced world of technology to stay informed about class work, assignments, and your overall standing in class.

Currently you should examine the Bloom's Taxonomy handout attached below as a Word document. This is what we are discussing in class and it will help you to complete the homework assignment tonight. Remember, "I don't know" and "I don't understand" are not acceptable responses or excuses. You must make an attempt to figure out the question at hand.

  8. Wuthering Heights Unit Page Wuthering Heights Unit Page
Our study of the Romantic and Gothic eras through Bronte's novel Wuthering Heights, will include learning and identifying trademarks of the tumultuous period in English literature and in England, in which societies struggled with gender and social expectations. Through literary devices, imagery, and novel structure, Bronte encapsulates the essence of this division between the romantic and gothic ideals that split genders, classes, and societies. We will reflect back on our understanding of heroic ideals and tragic heroes. We will reflect on art as it is related to literature, and examine the use of language, symbolism, and narrative structure in its purpose of developing complex characters and themes.
