Who Completes the TPA?

All Preliminary Multiple or Single Subject credential candidates must successfully complete the TPA; a credential portfolio is no longer required.

The following Undergraduate portfolios will be discontinued on June 30, 2015:

If you have questions regarding the discontinued portfolios listed above, please contact: tpa@nu.edu

The California Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) requirement went into effect July 1, 2008. At National University, all Multiple or Single Subject Credential candidates who had yet to complete a course toward his or her credential program were required to complete TPA. Completion of an ePortfolio is signified by a satisfactory grade in TED 629 (Seminar).

For Graduate candidates, the TPA requirement is mandatory. Candidates were emailed in December 2011 with notice that the if clinical practice was not completed by June 30, 2012, he or she would be required to complete TPAs. This deadline was subsequently extended to October 15, 2012.
