Pearson ePortfolio system is the electronic assessment services associated with the implementation, delivery, scoring and reporting of edTPA in New York. “Assessment services include the use of the technology platform that registers the candidate, receives the portfolio, coordinates the logistics of scoring the portfolio, analyzes the results and reports the results to the candidate. Assessment services also include recruiting qualified educators to score the portfolio. Scorers are trained specifically to edTPA rubrics, they use standardized scoring procedures and are calibrated and monitored during scoring” (Pearson edTPA, 2013).
There is no cost for students or higher education institutions to use the Pearson ePortfolio system during reviewer process of the edTPA tasks. After the pilot students will be required to use the Pearson system to complete their final edTPA submission and to complete that submission a cost will be incurred by the teacher candidate. That cost at this time is being estimated at $300 dollars and payment procedures will be taken care of through Pearson. Further information on fees and payment procedures will be coming forward after the spring 2013 pilot.
Pearson has been working closely with several other portfolio systems to allow integrated edTPA submissions. Taskstream is one of the eight platform providers that are currently connected to Pearson to allow one click transmission from the Taskstream edTPA Directed Response Folios (edTPA DRF) to Pearson submission. Please see Taskstream for Faculty and/or Supervisor resources page for assistance.
