Support research scholars program, CSTEP. pre-health advising, Office of Career Pathways and other programs for student development. Support the creation of a Veterans Success Center. Work to give students a global perspective through engagement in study abroad programs. Work towards more Community Based Learning initiatives in collaboration with student life.
 
Ensure that all areas are adequately resourced and staffed, and support training and further development of administrative staff and faculty advisors managing each area.

Continue to support faculty development initiatives, including the Center for Faculty development, mission related activities and in grants administration. Support faculty development of Community Based Learning courses and Study Abroad courses.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Support the, FDC, a faculty-led committee focused on faculty development to enhance communication, coordination and integration of initiatives on and off campus. Ensure there is at least one member from each school on the committee. Collaboration on selection for Office of Mission opportunities. Collaboration on new faculty orientation, and new faculty institute. Continue to support faculty development initiatives through Faculty Development day, CELT lunches, and co-sponsorship of events.
Expected Results: Further development of committee with roles and responsibilities defined for members. Collaboration on selection for Office of Mission opportunities. Collaboration on planning of new faculty events and opportunities. Increased engagement in Faculty Development day, CELT lunches, and co-sponsorship of events.
Details/Description: Over the last few years, there are many faculty development initiatives that have grown organically on-campus. CELT through both the faculty development day in August as well as the monthly lunches have been hosting speakers on faculty development on broad topics. In addition, there are a number of other faculty development initiatives that have grown over the past year through the faculty development committee.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Meet with the committee - including students, faculty and administrators to discuss the development of a proposal for a Women's Resource Center. Coordinate with Student Life, Mission, and Human Resources to determine where the Center fits within the existing structure and responsibilities of different departments. Benchmark with other institutions to determine best structure for Center.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Marketing to faculty of possibilities for Study Abroad course development. Encourage development of new courses for intersession and summer.
Expected Results: Increased number of faculty-led courses during intersession and summer.
Details/Description: Our faculty-led courses have been growing in popularity with our students, and remain our focus for Study Abroad opportunities.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Pre-Award Activity: Increase grant proposal submissions: Increase grant proposal submissions across the college and foster inter-disciplinary collaborations amongst the schools.

                       

                        Post Award: Monitoring compliance and post award activities for awarded grants: Professional and helpful interaction with the College community, sponsors, auditors and other external parties on all post-award matters relating to Sponsored Programs. Hire a grants coordinator (resource request) to fulfill post-award duties.
Expected Results: Increased grants submissions and diversity in faculty and administrators submitting grants. Development of policies, procedures and guidelines for research administration.
Details/Description: Grants administration is a unit focused on support for faculty in scholarship and research.
 
Support Piplelines for Student Development, Retention, and Positive Career Outcomes
Support research scholars program, CSTEP. pre-health advising, Office of Career Pathways and other programs for student development. Support the creation of a Veterans Success Center. Work to give students a global perspective through engagement in study abroad programs. Work towards more Community Based Learning initiatives in collaboration with student life.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Support Faculty Director in efforts to support veterans on campus.

                        Support recruitment of admissions for veterans.

                        Proposal for Resources, Location, and Budget for Center. Proposal for staffing, including an GA.
Expected Results: Operating budget and appropriate staffing for center.

                        Identified location and work towards development of space.
Details/Description: The Veterans Success Center would be an academic affairs office and report to the Provost through the AVP of Student and Faculty Development. The creation of a VRC would help us solidify our on-going efforts to provide our veteran-students with a successful transition from military life to civilian-academic life.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Work with CSTEP Associate Director and AVP Academic Success to ensure CSTEP students are supported academically, socially, and in their career pursuits.
Expected Results: Assessment of effect on retention in submission of annual report.
Details/Description: CSTEP was awarded starting July 2015 for a period of 5 years, and an Associate Director was hired soon after. By the end of Fall 2015, 65 students had been successfully recruited into the program. In Fall 2015, we also received commitment of funding for a summer bridge program for the CSTEP students. Integral to the success of this program is faculty support and the development of an advisory board with alumni in different industry areas.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Further support faculty coordinator and student life administrator to work with faculty to develop opportunities for students to engage in service learning and to promote a culture of service at MC.

                       

                        Develop a publication about service for MC community and community based partners.

                       

                        Support Community Partner Summit.

                       

                        Collaborate on assessment of service with GSS and other surveys.
Expected Results: Increase in number of CBL courses.

                        Increase in % of students that report service on GSS.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Assistant Director of CGSFA will participate in OCP staff meetings and retreats, and will be part of OCP team. Coordinated presence at Admissions and Orientation events. Coordinated staffing at Career Fairs, Mentor Program, Research Scholars, and other major events. Coordinated marketing with social media, flyers, brochures and other materials. Collaboration in follow-up and report for GSS 2017 and roll-out of GSS 2018.

                       

                        Continued submission to major national fellowships and scholarships, including Fulbright, Goldwater and NSF.

                       

                        Continued support for pre-health cohort, including discussions about curriculum and MCAT.
Expected Results: Participation in joint events with Career Development.

                       

                        GSS 2017 follow-up and report to deans and board of trustees.

                       

                        Increased number of submissions to major national fellowships and scholarships.

                       

                        Meetings with Chairs to discuss MCAT and curriculum mapping.

                         
Details/Description: Close to 30% of our graduating class will have enrolled in graduate school within a year of graduation. Marketing together under once umbrella takes advantage of resources and strengths in each area.
Click to Collapse MeasureMeasure: Continue to support summer Research Scholars Programs, with a focus on post-program support.
 
 
 
Proposed actions to achieve goal: Further unify research scholars programs through on campus housing and research scholars presentation day. Work to develop budget for students and faculty to attend conferences and disseminate their work. Work to include international students through Bethlehem and possibly Mexico in research scholars program.

                       

                        Continue to support Summer Fellows program and Jasper Summer Research Scholars Program.

                       

                        Support students that have accepted conference abstracts.
Expected Results: -Group of 50-60 engaged students in summer research scholars programs across campus.

                        -Increased support for students and faculty to present at regional and national conferences.
Details/Description: This will be the 5th year that the summer research scholars programs are running, and we have developed and streamlined many processes. In addition, we have unified the requirements of many of the programs to create a group of engaged scholars each summer.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Collaborate with other Lasallian institutions to further develop infrastructure for a Lasallian Experience. Work to towards more defining definitions of Lasallian Experience and Exposure to Another Culture to provide opportunities for students to develop a global perspective.

                       

                        Work on logistics to develop more programs and to ensure that students will be able to take advantage of the $1000 that they can apply to these programs.
Expected Results: Definition of Lasallian Experience and Exposure to Another Culture.

                        New programs developed as we work our way to implementing Lasallian Experience.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Hold monthly team meeting during Academic Year. Use leadership development and team building exercises to ensure that administrators in different areas feel like a unified group.
Expected Results: Development of a team mission statement. Sharing of resources and referrals for faculty and students.
Details/Description: The student and faculty development group was created with AA reorganization in July 2015. To function more effectively, these units (Study Abroad, CGSFA, and Grants Administration) should feel like a team with a unified goal and mission of student and faculty development.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Continue to ensure that Coordinator position on FDC is filled. Identification of faculty coordinator for CBL for AY17-18. Pre-professional advising faculty identified and supported.
Expected Results: Filled positions - Coordinator of FDC, CBL, Pre-health Advising, Pre-Law Advising
Details/Description: Our faculty positions which are based on course release and/or stipends allow us to accomplish more within our units and support core student and faculty development areas. Identification of appropriate and willing faculty to serve in these positions is very important to the success of each unit.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Further develop study abroad faculty committee to increase diversity in courses. Support a committee for Community Based Learning. Support faculty fellowships committee in research scholars selection process and in development of advising on specific fellowships. Support HPAC committee in internal application process and committee letter development.
Expected Results: Functional committees associated with each area - Study Abroad, Pre-health Advising, Research Scholars/Fellowships, and Community Based Learning.
Details/Description: The faculty committees or advisory boards associated with each area provide invaluable work, often focused on marketing, support for students, and faculty development.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Ensure that administrative staff and faculty managing separate units attend conferences, webinars, and professional development workshops to support training and development of competencies.
Expected Results: Attendance and submission of proposals to national conferences in each area. Development of competencies focused on major areas in each unit.
Details/Description: Study Abroad, Grants Administration, and Center for Graduate School and Fellowship Advisement all hired new administrrators in AY16-17. In addition, we have faculty with course releases or stipends in other areas. It is imperative that everyone stay current with professional associations in their respective areas.
