Click to Collapse Section In collaboration with Athletics and the Department of Communications develop plans for a Manhattan branded ESPN 3 platform for the fall of 2018(Goals)

By the fall of 2018 the MAAC Conference is requiring member institutions to support an ESPN 3 platform for the delivery of digital sports media and coverage of athletic contests. This coming summer the necessary wiring will be provided to center court for coverage of men's and women's basketball. Next year the following steps will be implemented:

                 

                  1. Specifications of needed infrastructure to deliver all content. Purchase of equipment, creation of studio, etc.

                 

                  2. Work with Department of Communications to develop internship requirements for students to participate in the creation of digital sports media.

This goal is a carried over from AY 2016-17. The following facility renovations and upgrades are currently planned for AY 2017-18:

                 

                  1. Upgrades/renovations to Draddy Gym, including new floor for center court, 6 drop down baskets and new bleachers.

                 

                  2. Improvements/renovations to Gaelic Park to include: new turf, renovation of locker room facilities and an upgrade to the scoreboard.

                 

                  3. The development of a true collegiate baseball facility at Van Cortland Park. The project may involve collaboration with Fieldston, Horace Mann and Riverdale Country schools.
 
Due to the delay in construction for the new residence hall project this goal is carried over from AY 2016-17:

                 

                  This initiative will involve several steps in order to successfully open new housing for fall of 2020:

                  1. Develop program for new residence hall, de-densification plan and possible decommissioning of existing facilities.

                  2. Develop and implement policy for residence requirement beginning fall 2019

                  3. Advance staffing proposal for residence life in anticipation of increased residents and further monitoring of off campus residents.

The current location for Student Health Services is inadequate and the facility needs to be expanded in order to provide for appropriate services for a growing residential population. Several steps will be taken next year:

                 

                  1. Identify several possible locations for Health Services, including the ground floor of the new residence hall.

                 

                  2. In coordination with Health Services personnel, develop the program for the new space.

                 

                  3. Continue to review health services fee in order to provide support for new facility and expanded services.

A task force to include the VP for Mission, VP for Student Life, faculty and student life personnel will be charged by the EAC to develop a first-year experience course for the entire incoming class of 2018. This course will be a 1 credit, pass/fail requirement designed to accomplish several goals:

                 

                  1. Provide incoming students with a better understanding of the Lasallian Catholic heritage of the institution.

                 

                  2. Provide an opportunity for a more engaged conversation on important topics presented in orientation (e.g., academic integrity, sexual assault and title IX)

                 

                  3. Connect students with important resources of the College (e.g., Center for Academic Success, Counseling and Health Services and Career Pathways) critical to their successful transition to College.

                 

                  4. Facilitate more comprehensive alcohol and other substance education.

Consolidate Lasallian Leaders program in order to create a four-year set of expectations for the scholarship program that include participation in the Student Life Leadership Development Program and goals for serving in formal leadership opportunities. Lasallian leaders will be required to complete the Basic certificate by the end of their first-year and the advanced by the end of their second year.

To continue to support the Student Life Leadership Development Program by requiring its completion for consideration for formal positions of leadership (RA, SAAC, CRS Ambassador, SGA Executive Committee, etc.)

To continue and expand L.O.V.E. the Bronx and LeadWeek as ways to facilitate student civic engagement and involvement with organizations in New York City that are involved in public policy and change.
