Manhattan College must achieve redesignation of its Exchange Visitor Program every two years. The application process must be completed four months prior to the expiration date of our current program (8/31/2017).

To allow students to remain in compliance with SEVP regulations
In order for F-1 and J-1 students to remain in attendance at Manhattan College, they are required to remain in compliance with the SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program) regulations.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Student enrollment records are checked three times per semester on Banner - once right after first week of classes, once right after midterms, and once right after the last day to drop classes.
Expected Results: 100% compliance.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Inform students who are registered for less than a full-time course of study that they are only able to do so after obtaining permission from the Office of International Student and Scholar Services and only if there are valid reasons for doing so (e.g. academic, medical and completion of program).
Expected Results: Students will complete required paperwork to obtain permission for a reduced course load and thus remain in compliance with SEVIS regulations.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: Send out "SEVIS for Beginners: Dropping Classes and Immigration Implications."
Expected Results: Students will not drop classes without first consulting with the Director of International Student and Scholar Services.
Details/Description: This documents details the important of checking with the ISSS office before dropping classes since there are serious consequences of not maintaining F-1 and J-1 status.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: ISSS web page has up-to-date information on all aspects of F-1 and J-1 student visa regulations; periodic SEVIS for Beginners and Taxes for Beginners articles (which cover essential information about F-1 and J-1 regulations and procedures) are sent to all F-1 and J-1 students; ISSS Moodle page has information on procedures for on-campus employment, off-campus work authorization, filing income taxes, maintaining status - in addition it has an archive of SEVIS for Beginners and Taxes for Beginners articles; monthly ISSS newsletters provide students with information on recent developments in the SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor) Program as well as serve to remind students of SEVIS responsibilities (e.g., when to file for Optional Practical Training, etc.)
Expected Results: There will not be any students filing for reinstatement to F-1 or J-1 status due to failure to follow the F-1 and J-1 regulations.

Proposed actions to achieve goal: DS-3036 (Application for Redesignation will be submitted electronically and also printed out and sent to the State Department with supporting documents. It must be signed by President O'Donnell and notarized prior to sending.

                        Fee of $3,982 will be paid to Pay.gov.
Expected Results: Manhattan College will achieve redesignation of its J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.
