      Evidence-based rationale for including goal:

     

      • Maintain the size of the application pool by conducting a strategic search to target students by academic profile, geographic location and area of academic interest.

      • Continue to develop international recruiting strategies to increase the freshmen applicant pool in response to demographic shifts in our primary market.

      • Enroll the number of students appropriate to the resources available in each school

      • Maintain the number of underserved minority students enrolled in the freshmen class

      • To maintain a population of first-generation college students that constitutes more than 20% of the freshmen class

      • Incorporate information about the College’s ROI and value into search and yield campaigns.
 
To maintain a selective academic profile in the freshmen class and to promote Manhattan College’s academic reputation to the prospective student audience.

     

      Evidence-based rationale for including goal:

     

      • Maintain the selective GPA average of the incoming freshmen class

      • Maintain the selective average SAT score of the incoming freshmen class

      • Increase percentage of students who indicate that Manhattan College is their “top choice” on the Admitted Student Survey

      • Increase awareness about Manhattan College’s academic programs outside of the region through search initiatives.

To promote an understanding of the Catholic intellectual, social and educational tradition and the legacy of Saint John Baptist de La Salle and our unique mission to prospective students.

     

      Evidence-based rationale for including goal:

     

      • To increase prospective students’ awareness of Manhattan College’s Catholic identity, and more specifically the College’s identity as a Lasallian Christian School

      • To attract students who are aware of and share Manhattan College’s values of social justice and community

To enhance the English Language Program on campus in order to appeal to a larger number of prospective students and to provide the services to English language learners that will enable them to successfully transition to Manhattan College as matriculating students.

     

      Evidence-based rationale for including goal:

     

      • To attract additional qualified international students to Manhattan College

      • To provide an alternative opportunity to students who want to attend Manhattan College but are not yet able to demonstrate adequate English proficiency

      • To develop a curriculum that is consistent with the regular academic standards at the College to ensure that students have the ability to transition successfully to full time study after completing ESL requirements.

                        • Utilize junior and senior searches to inform students about the opportunities at Manhattan College and encourage them to apply as well as to educate them on ROI and value.

                        • Recruit internationally in order to continue to increase the applicant pool as a response to demographic shifts in our primary markets where there are fewer college-bound students than in years past.

                        • Host group tours for local high school students to allow students from underserved populations to visit campus and learn about the admissions and financial aid processes

                        • Continue to work collaboratively with HEOP office to provide quality applications to school HEOP officials to enroll underserved minority students who might ordinarily be academically out of profile and unable to afford private school tuition

                        • Work collaboratively with the Office of Financial Aid Administration to better meet the financial needs of underserved students who do not qualify for HEOP

                        • Attend college fairs for veterans to attract nontraditional students.

                        • Increase visibility and recruitment in Caribbean and South Florida where there large population of Latino students.

                        • Improve literature for prospective students and families about financial aid cost to make it easier for them to understand and emphasize value ion the market.
Expected Results: Maintain same percentage of students indicating that they plan to enroll at MC in the fall on the Accepted Student Survey. Maintain the same percentage of enrolling students who indicated that Manhattan College was their first choice school on the Admitted Student Questionnaire (73% in 2016)
Details/Description: • Use both the accepted student survey and the Admitted Student Questionnaire:

                        - To learn where we rank in students’ college options and how they perceive our academic reputation

                        - assess the effectiveness of communication and conversion events for accepted students

                        - To determine how students perceive the value of Manhattan College, compared to our peers and compared to past years.

                        • Compare demographic figures on a weekly basis to determine the progress toward the enrolling the optimal number of students and meeting the goal of enrolling a diverse freshmen class.

                        • Continue to have staff members participate in professional development opportunities to learn about Saint John Baptist de La Salle and his teachings in order to better educate prospective students about our Lasallian history.

                        • Host Saint La Salle Honors Night to promote awareness of the Lasallian heritage of the College to top incoming students
Expected Results: Disperse $40,000 in Lasallian Leadership scholarships to 12 students (as was done in 2016) by ensuring an adequate number of students from Lasallian high schools enroll at the College. In 2016 we maintained our close relationship with Lasallian high schools nation-wide, receiving applications from. 177 students applying and 19 enrolling from Lasallian High Schools and we would like to maintain similar numbers in 2017.
Details/Description: Disperse $40,000 in scholarship to deserving students from Lasallian high schools as incentive for students to remain active in leadership roles that promote service and social justice in the community.
