MAT-Elementary Handbook

Portfolio

Internship Folder on One Drive

Each candidate will create a folder on One Drive and share it with his/her/their supervisor and the MAT-E coordinator.  This folder will house additional folders that will document his/her/their growth and performance as a beginning teacher.  The Internship Folder will be developed during the Internship I semester, to demonstrate their efforts over the Internship I  field experience and coursework.

Of particular importance is data and evidence demonstrating the intern’s impact upon student learning, therefore uploading artifacts and evidence of students and student work will be required.  The Internship Folder will be a major focus during Intership II and EDUC 697, as candidates prepare to present their artifacts for the final interview to exit from the program. A successful exit interview is required for graduation.   Assessors at exit interview events are Educational Professions faculty and Public School faculty.  Candidates are encouraged to place significant importance on this collection of artifacts and to accept the support of Education faculty, Mentor Teachers and University Supervisors in the development and preparation of the Internship Folder for the exit interview.

As stated in the university catalog, candidate must successfully interview with the Internship Folder in order to exit the program. In the event that a candidate fails to pass the exit interview, a consultation with a faculty member will be provided.  Candidates will be allowed to complete a second attempt for the portfolio interview.

If the candidate fails on a second attempt of the exit interview, the candidate will receive an F in EDUC 697 and would not be able to graduate from the program. Candidates would have the option to retake EDUC 697 and participate in the exit interview event in a subsequent semester. Candidates would be required to remediate issues in the Internship Folder requirements. EDUC 697 cannot be taken a third time.
