Section A: Practicum I

Practicum I

The Practicum I experience EDUC 696: Practicum I candidates will complete a 6 week internship in a PDS school, working with an assigned mentor teacher and university supervisor, for a minimum of 30 days.  During the Practicum I, candidates are expected to observe and collaborate with the Mentor Teacher, gradually performing all professional and teaching responsibilities in the classroom, culminating in a minimum of 5 full days of planning and teaching, 3 of which must be consecutive. A 5 day instructional unit will be developed and taught during the experience. A University Supervisor will formally observe each candidate on at least two occasions. In addition, candidates must complete course assignments and other field assignments outlined in the handbook.
