Section B: Practicum II

Practicum II

The Practicum II experience (EDUC 697: Practicum II) occurs in the final semester of MAT- Elementary program. Candidates will complete a 14 week practicum in a PDS school, working with an assigned mentor teacher and university supervisor for a minimum of 70 days.  During the Practicum II, candidates are expected to observe and collaborate with the Mentor Teacher, gradually performing all professional and teaching responsibilities in the classroom for a minimum of 10 teaching days, 5 of which much be consecutive. Candidates will develop and teach a 10 day or two 5 day units during the internship. A service-learning experience would be included in one unit.  Candidates will also complete assignments associated with the EDUC 697: Practicum II and Seminar and will develop a professional portfolio, to be presented and evaluated at the Portfolio Interview event at the end of the semester.
