Locate and click 'Student Learning Outcomes/Key Performance Indicators' contained in the left-hand menu:

Then click 'Check Out' in the top righthand corner. This will prevent other users from making edits while you are working.
Once you have checked out the workspace, your edit options will appear in the center left of the work area:

If this is a new Assessment Plan, you will click 'Create New Set.' If you editing an existing set, you will have the ability to line item edit individual outcomes.
NOTE Do NOT delete an outcome set. There is an option to mark an outcome set Obsolete, and this can be done by the Office of Assessment. Deleting an Outcome set may delete data attached to that Outcome set.
For this guide, we will work through a new outcome set. Click 'Create New Set':

First you must name your Outcome Set. The system will provide a suggested name. There is a checkbox under the Set Name field that allows your outcomes to be mapped by other areas in your program/unit. Be sure to check this box. Once complete, click 'Continue.'

This screen has several tools. You have the ability to Reorder your outcomes, edit the outcome set name/properties, or delete the set. Again, do NOT delete any set of outcomes without first consulting the Office of Assessment.
Click 'Create New Outcome':

This screen gives you the option to name your Outcome and provide a description. The Office of Assessment suggests naming your outcomes by their number (e.g., SLO 1, SLO 2, etc.). Then, in the description field, provide the text of your outcome (e.g., The student will communicate in oral written forms.).
There are two tools under the 'Description' field that allow the user to check for spelling errors and to see a character count. Use these, as necessary.
Once complete, click 'Continue.'

The next screen prompts you to Add Mapping, Add Another Outcome, or go Back to All Outcome Sets. You can use these tools as is appropriate, but for this guide will click 'Back to all outcome sets':

This will send you back to the outcome set screen. Most programs will have between 3 and 7 outcomes programmed into the system at this point.
The next and most crucial step is to map the outcomes/KPI's.
Click 'Map' for the outcome you wish to map in the system:

Then you will click 'Create New Mapping':

Then you will select 'Goal sets distributed to xx program' from the dropdown menu. Click 'Go':

By clicking 'Go,' a list of available outcome sets will become available from which the user can choose. Most units will focus on the 'University Outcomes' or 'UCA Core Values' options. Select the 'University Outcomes' radio button and click continue.

The next screen will display all of the University Outcomes with check boxes beside each option. Check the appropriate boxes and click 'Continue':

This will create a mapping in the system and redirect the user back to the outcome set screen. As you can see, we are now mapped to Alumni Engagement.
NOTE
An outcome can be mapped to multiple available outcome sets. The primary sets include University Outcomes, UCA Core Values, and any appropriate specialized accrediting standards. The use of this tool is extremely important. If you have questions or need help using the Mapping function, please contact the Office of Assessment at assessment@uca.edu.
