Assignments for SPED 602, 603, and 604

Frostburg State University

It is the expectations that candidates will start as close to the beginning of each semester as possible.

The schedule for the field placement visits will be determined by the candidate, instructor of the course, and the mentor teacher.

SPED 602: Instructional Content and Practices for Exceptional Learners

Completion of an instructional project with elementary, secondary, or young adult

experiencing academic difficulties to include transition planning and/or Career

 Studies

Lesson plan involving technology

Lesson plan involving instructional support strategies

SPED 603: Planning and Managing the Teaching and Learning Environment

               Completion of 1 Universal Design  for Learning (UDL)  Project

                       Completion of Assistive Technology Lesson Plan

                       Completion of Classroom Management System

SPED 604: Managing Student Behavior and Social Interaction Skills

               Completion of Field Interview Assignment

               Completion of FBA Project with accompanying data for at least 5 observations.

               Completion of Positive Behavior Support Plan Project

               Completion of paperdescribing the FBA and the Positive Behavior Support Plan, the outcomes, and future steps.

Assignments for SPED 696

 

Course Requirements (adaptation will be made if you are employed as a teacher in a school system):

  • Attendance for all seminars. The only excused absences are with a doctor’s note or with the approval of the program coordinator.
  • Documentation of hours and days, signed by candidate and mentor teacher, supervisor, and submitted on Taskstream
  • Activities checklist submitted on Taskstream
  • All signed forms from the Special Education Candidate Guide submitted
  • Observation reflection logs of mentor teacher(s) submitted
  • Reflection/Responses submitted on Taskstream
  • Supervisor’s lesson observation forms submitted
  • Lesson plans for lessons observed submitted on Taskstream
  • Action Research Project requirements completed and submitted on Taskstream
  • Course evaluation forms submitted.
