Strategic Communication

Student Learning Outcomes

Goal 1. Students will identify and assess strategic communication problems and situations.

1A: Students will conduct a situation analysis of a brand (industry, consumer, competition).

Goal 2. Students will demonstrate the creative ability to construct strategic messages that audiences will pay attention to, understand, believe, remember, and as appropriate, act upon.

2A: Students will construct messages designed to influence behavior, impact attitutudes, and as appropriate, prompt action.

2B:  Students will demonstrate the ability to deliver effective presentations. 

Goal 3. Students will construct media delivery strategies for strategic messages.

3A: Students will construct delivery strategies for traditional, digital, and social media.

Goal 4. Students will develop a complete strategic communication strategy and action plan for a brand.

4A: Students will craft a campaign that analyzes a brand's situation, demonstrates the creative ability to create and implement strategic messaging, and effectively applies earned, owned, and paid media strategies.

Goal 5. Students will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the field of strategic communication.

5A: Students will distinguish the various elements of integrated marketing communication (strategic communication) and their roles.

5B: Students will create an online portfolio.
