I have had a couple of questions regarding tattoos and piercings for teacher candidates visiting schools. The policy of the School of Education is to abide by the recommendations of the schools as we depend on them to fulfill field experience requirements.
Therefore, one piercing in each ear lobe is acceptable, but you should avoid overly large, dangling earrings that might draw unnecessary attention away from what you are saying/doing.
Multiple ear piercings and those in lips, nose, cheeks, etc. that are visible are not (even a tongue stud has been a problem in the past). Please remove objects before entering a school. All piercings are frowned upon for males.
Visible tattoos should be covered with clothing, make-up or a band-aid.
Thank you for your adherence.
