Adolescence Education Program Requirements and Information. Leads to certification in Adolescence Education 7-12 in Major/Content Area - see below
Liberal Arts major in:
Biology, Adol Educ: Biol&Gen Sci; Chemistry Adol Educ: Chem&Gen Sci; English, Adol Educ: English; French, Adol Educ: French; GeolSci, Adol Educ:Earth&Gen Sci; History, Adol Educ:Soc St; Mathematics, Adol Educ: Math; Physics, Adol Educ:Phys&GenSci; or Spanish, Adol Educ: Spanish.
Please note that students enrolled in an Adolescence Education Program will fulfill the college writing requirement through the department of their major.
Block I Can be taken freshman or sophomore year (fall/spring) or junior year, fall, with Block II
INTD 203 U/Social Foundations of American Education
You must apply and be accepted into the school of education by the time you have accumulated 60 credit hours - junior status. See application tab of this newsletter for information on the application process.
Block II (Minimum GPA Required - 2.75) Fall semester - junior year (can be taken sophomore year with special permission if study abroad is planned for fall of junior year)
EDUC 204 Dimensions of Teaching and Inquiry (FALL SEMESTER ONLY)
SPED 205 Teaching Secondary Learners with Special Needs (FALL SEMESTER ONLY)
Block III (Minimum GPA Required - 2.75 and you must be accepted into the school of education.) Spring semester junior year. Must be taken the semester before student teaching or deferment paperwork must be filed.
INTD 300 (Science) or 301 (for French, FREN 320; for Spanish, SPAN 320) Topics in Secondary Education (SPRING SEMESTER ONLY)
INTD 302 Methods and Materials in Secondary Education (SPRING SEMESTER ONLY)
Block IV Student Teaching (See eligibility requirements under student teaching tab)
EDUC 303 Field Experience (Language Candidates complete this with block III.)
EDUC 340 Student Teaching-Middle School Education
EDUC 350 Student Teaching-High School Education

Infectious Control Seminar(Blood Borne Pathogens) held two times per semester; students are notified through campus e-mail
