Ways of Reading

How have you made your mark on Freire’s work?

I believe I've made my mark on Freire's work, by finding faults within his purposes of wanting an alternative education. I believe throughout this E-portfolio project I was able to think towards how this idea came to Freire's mind. As I do agree with many of the points stated by Freire, I believe there is still areas of improvement within his own solution to the Banking Concept of Education, which is Problem-Posing Education. I believe I have constructed my E-Portfolio to symbolize that idea; that there are more areas to be improvement even within the free to discover way of educating in Problem-Posing. So, my mark on Freire was the realization of still needed work on what he considered to be the solution to the depositing education.

How has he made a mark on you?

Freire has definitely made a mark on me because he made me question all the years of education I had previously received. I was challenging every circumstance and struggle I encountered in school towards Freire's ideas. I can see how profoundly Freire has made me see the true significance among having a more translucent form of education, allowing me to have the ability to go beyond the functions of an "automaton" and actually process and perceive the information being fed to me, and then apply it in my life, causing difference, creativity and transformation.

How has ALL the work we have done in class (all the homework's, discussion boards, drafting, etc.) made a mark on you?

The moment we began doing any type of work in this course we started using discussion boards, which I personally love. I feel that the homework's, discussion boards, and drafting methods were that much more influential among my writing because of the broad spectrum we were given to work in. I can see how much having that freedom and space to be able to express ideas serves to attract more originality from me and it has marked me in the sense that it has made me be more creativity within my writing and my ways of reading, interpreting, and compiling information.

How have you made a mark on all this work?

Just as all this work has allowed me to be more creative within my way of writing and reading different works of literature it has also allowed me to portray my own side to the story, to add personality that distinguishes from the next person's answer to  the same exact question. So, I believe I have left my mark on the work by providing responses that aren't expected that view the matter from a different angle that leads towards a copletely different direction.

How (well) have you used the writing process and all the materials available to you (including conferencing with me in and out of class and tutoring) during drafting—be honest here!—and how is this reflected in the polished eportfolio that you are about to hand in today?  Be as specific as possible.

I have used my resources within writing to my fullest disposal. I have reached out to my peers, I have asked for their own opinions to see what they believe is a different way to alter my E-Portfolio in a positive direction that contributes to my idea and theme. I have tried to schedule meetings with peer tutors, so I did try to reach out and use those resources with one particular tutor -Nohemi Monteczuma, and when both our schedule clashed I went to the NU Writing Center to get more ideas towards where I can veer my E-portfolio. With this resource however I was not given help with handling the E-portfolio site because those tutors weren't familiar with Task Stream. Although, it just helped me polish my own skills and gain experience within task stream for further projects. I have used my in class time to ask the small questions  that I have to ask to assure myself that I am indeed progressing forward with my E-portfolio in an appropriate manner. I have also been asking questions in my progress reports to make sure that the directions I plan to follow into do seem to be structured around my theme, from an outsiders perspective.
