HMMM....SO WHY DID I WRITE ABOUT, WHAT I WROTE ABOUT?

As you have ventured through my E-portfolio going through the introduction which contained a somewhat similar form of the traditional table of contents found in a typical book.  So, as the creator of this E-Portfolio I decided to prepare you as much as possible for what you were about to be revealed through as you made your way tab to tab into "Putting Education Under the Microscope". I had described each and every topic that would be discussed in "The Calm Before the Storm". As you continue going deeper into the meat of what my E-portfolio is selling to you, there is a visual answer to the question "What is Education?". I decided to include this video because not only do I agree with the quotes within the video but I believe it captures the sense of why education should be valued as well as why it is an important and a crucial part of life, even from a very young age. I also included the analysis of two very wise authors and educators. Paulo Freire and Richard Rodriguez add immense significance to the faults and benefits out of education, whether it be from the instructional perspective of it or the results that come from them.

After trying to depict the ways that other educators see education, I connect it to how I see education, and how it has affected my life and made an impact within my current success. I included my struggles with education as well because it shows how with faults and benefits education can still impact any individual. As theories from Freire, Knowles, and even Kapp have tried to at the very least improve the way education is exercised, I wanted to show with Rodriguez's and my experience that there are faults from all directions that can alter the impact any method or form of education is exercised. I have also included an analyzed version of two of the most discussed topics in "The Banking Concept of Education", Banking education and Probelm-Posing education.

I then try to show how an individuals surrounding within education whether it be their neighborhood, family, or even school environment can negatively influence the progress they make academically. I show three articles compiled from New York Times, and CNN News. I also discuss the main ideas within two films based on education, "Lean On Me" a 1989 production and "Dangerous Minds" a 1995 production. I include these films in my E-Portfolio because they show significance within the problems that affect education, before we start finding ways to fix the way education was taught, let's pin-point some of the issues that cause students to neglect their academics. These films shine a light not only on the neglect of the individual student by the Board of Education but also the corruption of school officials.

I move onto trying to show the many other theories that are being applied to education to cause change among the knowledge perceived by students. As Freire had showed us his theory of The Banking Concept of Education and its solution "Problem-Posing", Michael Knowles and Alexander Kapp discuss the importance of Andragogy and informal adult education.

I then discuss different perspectives and changes among education, first with our modern society and the changes that our generation had implicated towards improving education. I talk about different opinions from school officials, students, test scores, and even the "No Child Left Behind" law passed when George W. Bush was in office.

I discuss all these topics to highlight the many areas of improvement within the idea of "Education", and there will never be one method or theory that can relinquish students from the burdens in life that prevent them from begin successful in life. There are many circumstances that influence education in a negative way, but with the films, experiences, theories, and current policies discussed we can see that improvement within education is in progress.
