1. I learned quite a few things from Mr. Allen's presentation. One interesting fact is that HID (High Intensity Discharge) lamps interior temperatures achieve higher temperatures than the sun (5000 Kelvin). I also learned that Thomas Edison invented the first power grid and that he was the first one to bring electricity to the world. An interesting fact I learned is that laser actually stands for something.
2.Some thing I would like to learn is what chemicals are used to create LED's and OLEDS.
3.A. Light is to darkness as knowledge is to ignorance.
B.Only in absence of light do you recoginze its existance.
4.A fact about Thomas Edison is that he invented the phonograph and the first talking motion pictures.
Correlation between color and light
Color directly depends on the light sources wavelenght and frequency. The colors our eye can percieve are red, blue and yellow which are the primary colors. When we see colors other than those they are simply mixes between them. For example green is formed by mixing yellow and blue. What we see is light reflecting off of objects, depending on what colors are in the lights and what colors the object has.
Color(packet)
Refraction - light bent form original course
Diffraction - When light breaks or spreads out.
Aditive color - color in direct light
Subtractive color - is color in relation to pigment
pigment - a substance that imparts black white or color into other materials.
primary colors - colors that can not be made [(blue yellow and red) (Additive- green red blue)]
secondary colors - colors that are made by mixing primary colors. [additive- yellow cyan magenta] [normal - orange green voilet]
Tertiary colors - (third tier colors) are made by mixing secondary colors.
Achromatic - refracting light without dispersing it into its constituent colors : giving images practically free from extraneous colors
gray scale - various shades of gray are used similar to black and white but all the colors in between white and black there are white, gray, grayer, black (monochromatic)
hue - pure color with out tint or shade.
value - is a measure of where a particular color lies along the lightness–darkness axis. A color's value is its amplitude. Various color models have an explicit term which places the color on a scale from utter black to pure white. The HSV color model and Munsell color model have an explicit value, while the HSL color model uses a related parameter called lightness instead.
tint - mix of a color with white (to make the color look lighter.)
shade - the mix of a color wi6th black (to make the color look darker)
chroma - aka intensity - brightness or dullness in a color.?
intensity - brightness or dullness of color?
saturation - amount of gray in a color
complements - In color theory, two colors are called complementary if, when mixed in the proper proportion, they produce a neutral color (grey, white, or black).
split complements -
Split Complementary Colors are "one off" from the opposite color. Pick a color, find it's complementary color, then select the two colors on either side of the complementary color. Split Complementary color schemes can use two or three colors.
analogous - Colors that are next to each other in the color wheel.
monochromatic - of only one color (the scale of the color is included)
nuetral - The neutral colors of black, white, silver, gray, and brown and are used to put the focos on other colors or to tone down the brighter colors.
simultaneos contrast - most intrense when colors are complimentary, it is how colors that are side by side interact change our perception of them we often see diffrent colors at the colors boundries.
after image - when the image contines to appeaer in ones vision after exposure to the original image has ceased(staring at a light bulb for to long)
This image depicts an abandoned street that has been that way ever since the volcanic explosion of Mt. Vesuvius 2000 years ago. I chose this picture because it depicts complete and total silence and abandonment, I feel some what inspired when i see it. I also feel remorse for its past inhabitants. I also see peace since the place has no inhabitants it would be nice to be there undisturbed. Tragedies can sometimes bring peace after all.
The image leads off into the distance which shows and gives the feeling of abandonment. The tattered and destroyed buildings in the forefront are interesting because it shows past architecture nad also because i think that some body built that at one pont in time and is not here to see it now. The angle of the street as i said before shows distance this angle aslos shows proportion. The image is in black and white this makjes the picture even more interesting because i try to fill in the colors nad imagine the world with color. thre picture has asymetrical balance because it displays one small building on the left and you see more of it but there is a tall building next it which compensates the lack of attention it gets.
Glow and Glare Prompt
The glow is the steel gear which can aid us in creating motors and other mechanical devices that aid us in everyday life. These devices can range from motors to robots to a mechanical pencil sharpener. The gear is made out of steel which is a fundamental material in many of our buildings and machines as well. The production of steel and gears creates many job and helps the economy, this is seen as a great benefit. In Cleveland we have a steel industry which flourishing.
The steel industry helps us in many ways and the use of gears allows us to create new machinery and continue manufacturing current machinery. The disadvantage of all of this is the negative influence the manufacturing plants have on the earth. This just goes to prove that light can either help or hinder you and often both at the same time.
