Standard 3.3 Development of critical thinking and problem solving

I elected to portray this artifact for this standard because I believe a 5 E's lesson plan is the best way to provide critical thinking. I believe that this type of lesson plan engages the students right from the get go so they are interested for the whole entire lesson. This lesson also is not about lecturing the whole time, but the information gets through to the students still. I think through this type of lesson students remain interested the entire time because there is an activity at the beginning and the end. There is also always a great way to introduce the topic whether it be with a fun demonstration or a KWL chart.

I chose this lesson in particular because it is the best representation of a 5 E's lesson plan. it is well thought out and organized into that 5 E's standard way. Every part is addressed in full so much so that a student teacher would be able to teach the lesson, and my students would not fall behind. This is the lesson to which I compare every other lesson I write to. I think it best shows what hard work I put into my lesson plans, and what creative ideas I have for my lessons. It also shows my organization skills as well as enthusiasm to start lessons. Enthusiasm that will transfer to my students.
