I knew that the Boys and Girls Club gave children wonderful opportunities, but I had no idea just how wonderful until I spent time at a local club. When I was there, I was participating in an event that was so remarkable; it was called the “Techathalon.” It was an event that the children spent the last year preparing. This event also brought children from a number of other clubs across the state together for a day of fun and technology. Young children competed in teams in building computers, programming software, and working on numerous other activities. I had the great opportunity to watch and help with some of these events. It was amazing to watch these young children do things that most adults cannot.
