Throughout my time in the Learning Community at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, I have gone to various Boys and Girls Clubs.  Each time I visit I am reassured that After School Programs are extremely important for children. These programs offer students technology outside of their classroom, a safe place to just be a kid and play, and a place to get help with homework. During the computer block courses I enrolled in Spring of 2005,  I visited the Boys and Girls Club Compadre Branch located in Chandler. The club is sponsored by Intel, so the variety of technology they offer their children is second to none.  For example, the club offers children computers with the latest software, a musical recording studio, digital cameras for taking pictures, and digital camcorders for making movies. I was able to work with a group of children and help them create exciting and fun projects using Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Publisher.  I also helped a student create and maintain a simulated zoo, using Zoo Tycoon software.  It was amazing for me to observe and work with children who did not just play with technology, but understood how it worked and how to use it correctly.
