As teachers we must be aware of our student’s different cultures. One great way to do this is a calendar that shows the important dates of all races, religions, and genders. While my calendar has basic dates, I hope to add more throughout my education and even into my teaching career. I envision that my calendar will eventually become a gateway to the past. As a future history teacher, I feel it is important for my students to understand that things have happened every day of the year throughout history. So, by adding “this day in history” events to my calendar I am hopeful that I can use it everyday to bring awareness to both past and present events in my classroom.
