We work with a diverse group of students many of which are "nontraditional", not all of them go on to careers in the automotive business but many have.
We have had several Female students, most are just interested in learning how cars work and how to take care of them. Some have actually moved on to work as automotive technicians. We have one in particular who is a line technician at one of our BMW dealers. She is three years out of high school, earning a great income and has managed to fit in the birth of a child without leaving the position. We keep in touch because we are in the dealers many times throughout the years checking on current students.
We have had many other "nontraditional" students with disabilities, some of which have moved on to positions in dealerships and some have improved their eye hand coordination, people skills, confidence level, life skills, etc.
Our lab has posters displayed on the walls promoting females in the Automotive industry. See pics below.
