Artifact 51 - evidence of teacher serving as mentor to other teachers

I was fortunate to have a great mentor as I entered this field and what I learned from him, I have tried to implement in helping several new instructors enter the profession. I was involved with the selection and mentoring of three new automotive technology instructors and two of the three are still in the system. I continue to help the remaining instructors with teaching techniques as well as procedural questions that come up. Dale and I both are involved with the math in cte program where we work with math teachers to write curriculum that reinforces the math that is an everyday part of the automotive repair business. I have found that the program also helps the math teachers to understand how they can use real life examples of how math is used into their class which will hopefully make it more meaningful for the students while they are in math class. Hopefully the result will be students that are better at math when they enter our program and will need less math coaching from us to understand how we need them to be able to use math to solve problems.
