The Automotive Technology classroom and labs fall under the supervision of CTAE Director Kris Martini, as well as the oversite of school principal Dr. Jerry Caputo. Our lab conforms to all safety standards expected of these two offices. In addition, we undergo annual inspections by the Arlington County Fire Marshall, and are subject to unscheduled inspections by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Among the safety features of the facility are: A designated restroom; hand washing sink in the shop; eyewash station; first aid kit; fire blanket; fire extinguishers; exhaust extraction system; clearly-marked exit signs; and, maps and emergency back-up generator for lighting in the event of power failure.
All first level students must pass a general safety test.
The students in the second level are required to pass the S/P2 Mechanical Safety and Pollution Prevention courses to obtain S/P2 certification.
As a result of these safety measures, we have been fortunate to have suffered no major safety accidents or incidents in the past ten years.
