Context:
This web page was created in Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching during the Spring, 2007. I was under the advisement of Mr. Jeff Goodman. This web page can be changed and redone at my discretion. It is a tool that will be available to me as a Student Teacher and as a future Teacher. This page has many links available for parents, students, and teachers alike. I have a calendar with monthly news about our classroom, a homework page, a photo gallery, and a Media and Child study.
Impact:
This is a tool that will be available to students, parents, the community, and teachers to share and communicate information. As a teacher, I can use it as a way to communicate with parents about the events of our classroom and school. As well as a way for them to see their child in the classroom setting with the photos that is posted in the photo gallery. With the calendar special dates and events will be just a click away for students, parents, the community, and other teachers. The homework section will be helpful for those who might occasionally forget. The links provided are informational as well as recreational. The links for children will be age appropriate as well as educational. Some links will provide the viewer information about our school, the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, and ways of contacting me via e-mail or by telephone.
Alignment:
NETS-T II-B: Teachers apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when planning learning environment and experiences.
This artifact was met because I researched web sites that will be useful to students, parents, and teachers. I also completed a media literacy study and gathered information on mass media and the affects on children.
NETS-T II-C: Identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability.
This artifact was met because I listed several sites that children can engage in activities with the approval of a supervising adult. These sites were checked for accuracy and safety and the links are easily accessible.
NETS-T II-E: Teachers plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology-enhanced environment.
This artifact was met because I provided a homework page that students and their parents use as a reference. I listed the Homework Hotline phone number, daily homework, and information about "Friday Folders".
NETS-T IV-B: Teachers use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.
This artifact was met because I completed a mass media survey. I gathered data that informed me about the types of media that my students are exposed to on a daily basis.
NETS-T V-A: Teachers use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
This artifact was met because I listed several sites that parents or caregivers can access to get information concerning different activities to do with their child such as crafts, games or information concerning child care in
NETS-T V-B Continually evaluates and reflects on professional practice to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.
This artifact was met because I created a web page to use in my future teaching career. The research I did on the web links helped me practice my skills by putting the knowledge gained to great use.
NETS-T VI-A: Teachers model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use. NETS-T VI-C: Teachers identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity.
These artifacts were met because I had each child to have a release form signed and returned to me by a parent or guardian. This allowed me to photograph them and publish it on the class web site. I also provided a Spanish version of the release form for the students who are living with parents who speak primarily Spanish.
