Competency

Name of Artifact

Explanation

Using and promoting academic language in the classroom

Artifact #2

This was an assignment I submitted to WGU for my Elementary Social Studies Task but actually utilized it in my room. I feel that I was able to model the correct academic language in the classroom and then the students were exposed to the language again in the virtual tour and video. They were then able to use the academic language with each other as they played the Settlers of Catan game.

Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of students in the classroom

Artifact #3

This is an assignment I submitted for Instructional Planning and Presentation and represents my ability to meet the needs of students in the classroom.  This assignment is a great reference resource for me for when I need guidance on how to differentiate per ability.

Incorporating technology into your instruction to enhance student learning

Artifact #1

Artifact #1 is an Inquiry project that all 6th graders will be focusing on. They will use the research techniques they have learned throughout the year to showcase Ancient Civilizations. They will be using a variety of websites and books to research and utilizing apps such as Adobe Spark and Microsoft Sway to compile and present their findings.

Applying engaging and effective instructional strategies

Artifact #4

Artifact #4 is a unit that I just completed in the classroom. I feel that this unit was effective in multiple instruction strategies that kept the students engaged for multiple weeks. Incorporating project based learning with traditional direct instruction and cooperative learning while students worked together on their research was successful.
