PAWS Chicago

Missing my beautiful puppies at home, I began volunteering at PAWS Chicago in October, 2012. As a Level 1 Dog Town volunteer, I take the dogs on walks, assist with feedings, show animals to potential adopters, and, most importantly, socialize the animals who are awaiting their forever homes. I have met some wonderful people, both fellow volunteers and adoptive families, through this position, and I have also been fortunate enough to spend time with some of the sweetest dogs in the world. I always look forward to going in for a volunteer shift at PAWS and donning my beige volunteer apron to spend some quality time with the pretty puppies there; the resilience and trust of these dogs, many of whom came to us after being picked up as strays, never fails to amaze me and encourage me and the other volunteers to continue finding them loving homes and fighting to save other animals still on the streets, because, as the organization's name suggets, pets truly are worth saving.
