Domain 2e: Organizing Physical Space
IMG_3561.JPG This artifact contains an image regarding my classroom organization. Upon arrival into Mrs. Kirkwood's classroom, I saw that she already had excellent organization, which was nice to be off to a good start. Things such as the "incoming" and "outgoing" baskets for student work that needed graded and student work that had been graded and needed returned was an excellent method to ensure the abundance of paperwork was heading to the right place. One of the most beneficial contributions to the classroom that I had, was posting a weekly list of objectives for the students to see. I would write on the board the daily tasks/objectives, as well as any homework so the students were aware of what the upcoming events were. Something that I was able to incorporate were a series of stackable paper trays, in which I could organize multiple papers. There was a space for absent work, that way if a student missed a day, he or she knew to head to the paper tray in order to see what they had missed during their absence. Also, I always maintained a tidy desk, as well as ensuring all of the chairs were put up each day so the maintence workers could sweep the floors each and every day. In taking these measures, I feel as if I did my part in creating and maintaing a physical environment that was safe and conducive to learning for all students.
