Significant Experience

Student Teaching 2nd grade: Elementary Education, Pleasant Elementary.                                                January 2013 - February 2013

1.            A Pre-Assessment showed a basic understanding and desire to learn how to tell time.

2.            Instruction is followed explicitly resulting in learning verified by summative testing.

3.            A Post-Assessment test showed comprehensive knowledge of changing time, calendar too.

 

Student Teaching with 4th-7th grade: Special Education, Mulcahy Middle School.                          March 2013 - April 2013

 

1.            Established a daily routine that the students were familiar with providing an initial calmness.

2.            Teaching, assist and assess each student with the daily and unit lessons.

3.            Assessing learning and making necessary changes to lesson to improve effectiveness.

 

Mid County Community School, Visalia, CA.  April 2010.

   29 day; full time Temporary, Special Education assignment; Separate AM & PM classes

  Used current curriculum subject knowledge and effectively psychology to teach an interactive lead of the two day periods of classes for at risk youth.

  Class management first, replaced boredom with learning. The plan was critical for engagement to students learning and made the curriculum relevant to life experiences.

Green Acres Middle School Visalia, CA.  ; May 2008

  Full time temporary assignment, 20 days as push-in, Resource Specialist.  Used subject knowledge to prepare students to test.  Exhibited skills of a credentialed teacher that recognized learning styles.  Supervised in 5 separate classrooms, 25 students.

  Cooperated with classroom teachers to help the inclusive special education learn current curriculum and helped students feel they belonged with the class. 

  Taught the special students learn how to read for meaning, question and see answers to the selected subject material.  

  Records log kept progress of progressive assignments to complete the duty. 

Riverbend Middle School, Visalia, CA April 2008

o   Serving 20 days with a Special Education assignment; 4 periods - Science & Biology self contained classroom. 

o   Wrote lesson plans to meet the different learning needs of students of Mild to Moderate disabilities and at risk behaviors.  Understanding Science and Biology principles made it fun, simple to design and match varying learning abilities. 

o   Students engaged in fresh lessons that occupied their attention and managed behaviors. With educational hands on activities for students with learning disorders, the summative tests proved learning and retention evidence with lessons presented

John C. Fremont Elementary, Corcoran, CA.  Corcoran Unified Schools,

December 2007- March 2008.

o   Short term staff position of 54 days prepared a 2nd/3rd grade class of eleven unique Special Education students to test at grade level for the 2007 STAR reports. 

o   Each student finished at the grade level testing standards in multiple subjects. 

o   Instruction after testing in January 2008, the class continued to learn at 3rd grade level along District guidelines; Math, Reading and Language Arts.
