Context: This Assignment was created for my CI 3750 class, Integrating Media and Technology in the Classroom, in the Spring of 2007. Jeff Goodman was my advisor.

Impact: The following North Carolina Standard Course of Study Goals were met for the students of my class:

Third Grade

Language Arts

     Competency Goal 4

          Objectives: 4.05, 4.08, and 4.09

     Competency Goal 5

          Objectives: 5.01, 5.02, 5.03, 5.04, 5.05, 5.06, 5.07, and 5.08

Computer/ Technology Skills

     Competency Goal 2

          Objective: 2.01. 2.02, 2.07, and 2.08

     Competency Goal 3

          Objective: 3.03

For this assignment, I hoped to incorperate and inculde subjects such as language arts (reading and writing) and technology in the third grade. The students would work on sequencing (putting the images in order) and creative writing as they work on the project (the students will make a story to go along with the pictures, the story must be creative).

Alignment: The following assignment met the NETS-T standards for teachers:

NETS-T II-A. Apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.

I met this standard by providing the teacher with alternative ways to complete the assignment for younger, older, and ESL (English as a Second Language) students in the classroom. In the Teachers Instruction's document, I have documented ways that I would manipulate and change the lesson for the different types of children in my class. Different types of instructions for the different types of learning styles will help the diverse learners do well in this project.

NETS-T VI-E. Facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all students.

I met this standard by requiring students to switch off computer time, so all have a turn at the computer. This allows all students to get equal amount of computer time. Because students are in pairs they will switch off computer time so each person in the group will have time on the computer and be able to perform each task on the computer indepentently so in the future they will know how to do these taks on their own.

NETS-T IV-C. Apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.

I met this standard by providing multiple ways of assessing and evaluating the students for this activity. I provided students with a rubric for the assessment while grading their assignment so they will understand what I expecte to be turned in. I also included a sample worksheet and teacher instruction that will help with students finish the activity.

NETS-T IV-A. Apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using a variety of assessment techniques.

I met this standard by having a many of ways to assess my students. I will assess and evaluate the students while they complete certain task during the assignment, like copy and paste. Also, when students turn in their work they will be  saving it, printing it off, or emailing it to me. If the student performs the task correctly it will show the level at which the student is performing at (higher, lower, or perfoming at grade level). These ways of assessing the student will show how much the student has learned through doing this activity.

NETS-T VI-D. Promote safe and healthy use of technology resources.

I met this standard by providing students with a stretch break half way into the assignment. When students sit at a computer for long periods of time they will get tired. I will provide students with a stretch break this will allow students take a short break from the computer and stretch their hands out. This streach break will allow students to get refreshed and be able to focus on thier work for the remaining class time.
