Concepts To Be Attained

 

·      Basics of Egyptian Religion and Mythology.

·      Egyptian class structure.

·      Importance of the Nile River in Egyptian Culture.

·      Egyptian afterlife and Mummification.

·      Hieroglyphics as a writing system.

 

Generalizations

 

·      The Nile was the source of Egyptian strength through trade and farming.

·      Different gods were important to different classes of society.

·      Mummification provided access to the afterlife for wealthy individuals.

·      Changes in Egyptian culture occur over time.

 

            Essential Questions

 

·      How did the pictographic writing system of hieroglyphs work?

·      Who were the main Egyptian gods and what were their roles?

·      How did the Egyptians view the afterlife?

·      How and why did the Egyptians mummify bodies?
