Informal Assessment Techniques

 

 

•      Thumbs up – Thumbs down

o   To check for comprehension when explaining activity instructions.

•      Sampling: Calling on students at random, popsicle sticks

o   Prepare them for answering using think-pair-share.

•      Group work

o   Walk from group to group to make sure they are on task and understand the directions.

•      Worksheet analysis

o   Were they able to find the correct answers?  Do their answers seem like they digested the info or is it just copied directly from a text?

•      Cartouche project

o   Do they understand the use of cartouches?  Did they spend time making a well-designed cartouche?

•      Peer and Self-assessments

o   During Egypt 2500 B.C. play.

•      Note-taking

o   During peer presentations of gods project.

•      Exit slips

o   Filled out with the day’s topic at the end of each class.
