CEC, INTASC, and the NCLB High Quality Teacher Standards

Knowledge “General education and special education teachers need to be knowledgeable andskilled in how to teach all students, including students with disabilities, so that allstudents can achieve to high academic standards.”(NCLB, 2008

Knowlege“Special education teachers are more knowledgeable than general educators about the range and multiple manifestations of disabilities and their diverse effects on student development and learning within multiple contexts." (INTASC, 2008)

Teacher Quality: “No Child Left Behind includes provisions stating that all teachers in core academic areas must be highly qualified in the core academic subjects they teach by the end of the 2005–06 school year.” (NCLB. 2008)

 

Testing of Teachers: “New Elementary teachers must take a test for credentialing to satisfy both the NCLB & State requirements.” (NCLB, 2008)
