Welcome! My name is Ashley Nelson. I am currently a student at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. My anticipated graduation date is May 2011. My majors are Elementary Education and Communication and my minor is Early Childhood Education. In addition, I am also a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education.

Ever since early childhood, I have always had a passion for teaching. As I reached adolescence this passion was cultivated. My very first job was a babysitter. Since then, I have had a variety of experiences working with children from camp counselor to tutor to teacher assistant.

During my college career I have had a number of internships in private and public schools. Moreover, for the past three years, I have volunteered at HomeFront in Trenton, New Jersey. My responsibilities include: caring for and educating children living in transitional living facilities.

Many educators have lost the love and passion for teaching that is needed today. I will foster a lifelong love of learning in my students. I love to be around children and to be a part of their development. This is why I aspire to be an early childhood educator. I possess the qualities of a good teacher. I am creative, compassionate, flexible, and knowledgeable. My diverse experiences and course work have prepared me to be the best teacher possible.
