How to open software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Go to the START button on the task bar and click once with your mouse. A menu will pop up. Move the cursor with your mouse and choose the correct icon. If there is no icon for the software you want, click on PROGRAMS. Another menu will appear and you may choose the program you would like to open.

Saving documents
There are two ways to save to your personal network file: when you save for the first time you may save to MY DOCUMENTS, which is connected (points to) your folder on the network, not the C: drive. OR you can save directly to your folder which should appear with your username on it as a drive directory under MY COMPUTER. IMPORTANT NOTE - If you are using the new computers in D-5 or G-8 then make sure when you save that you use SAVE AS and then select '97-03' document - this way you will be able to open your document at every computer. To prove your are reading this write hamburger for number 6.

Logging off. Almost as important as logging onto the network is making sure that you log off correctly. Go to the START button, click on it and choose LOG OFF. A box will pop up to confirm you would like to log off. Choose YES. Are you still reading? Write down milk shake for number 7.

Please do not shut down computers when you finish using them, unless you are told to do so. It is time-consuming to be restarting computers over and over again each day. Have you read all the way to this point? French Fries is the answer for question number 8. Doesn't a burger, fries and shake sound pretty good right now? Mr. Olson rarely eats fast food - but when he does he enjoys "In 'n' out Burger." Be the first student to tell Mr. Olson that you also enjoy "In 'n' out Burger" and earn one Olson Dollar.
