Group Magazine Assignment Mr. Olson

Team up in small groups of 2-3-4 and assemble a magazine that explores your various personal roots and immigration history. As a team you will need to assemble a front cover and back cover. Each of you will be responsible for his/her own inside story page. Your own page should have a title using word art, columns and 3 images.

Use these guidelines:

• Magazine Front/Cover & Rear Cover/Design: Include 3 pictures/photos that represent your groups various backgrounds, utilize creative images and word art. Spend some time on the layout and design. Be creative! The back should list all of your names and consist of a preview of the next issue. Be sure and use color shading on both sides.
• Articles: (Take note that you get a solo grade for this portion) Compile all the data for your personal immigration and migration background and then write short stories about the immigrants or migrants in your family history. Use descriptive language; write in complete sentences. You should have at least two stories on your page!!! Size 12-font, single-spaced. Include at least 3 images as part of the layout.
Also include:
• Immigration/Migration: What country and/or countries are you from? What U.S. region have your ancestors lived in? Why did they immigrate to the United States? Why did they migrate to California? How has immigration and migration effected your family? You need to investigate at home to find these answers.
