Welcome to another day of daily trivia. I can picture you now – one teacher with several students hovering over his or her shoulder helping to locate my web site. Now that you have arrived at the right place - take a deep breath and enjoy. Please read all the instructions and rules for today’s game thoroughly before you begin your journey. Have fun. You have until 12:20. Here are the rules and questions:
1) Read all the rules before you start to answer questions.
2) Question #1 - Find the nearest Cougar Code. What are the first five words in code number one? This question is worth 2 points. Be the first to answer this question and add one bonus point.
3) Question #2 - You are out walking and get lost in the woods. You approach a fork in the road – one way will get you home, the other fork will lead you deeper in the woods. You notice one of the Johnson twins standing there. The Johnson twins are identical and it is a known fact that one of them always lies and the other one always tells the truth. The Johnson twins also know which fork leads back to town. You are allowed to ask this particular Johnson twin just one question so you can take the right path. What question should you ask him? This question is worth 3 points. Be the first to answer this question and add one bonus point.
4) Question #3 - Mr. Smith takes the train home from New York each day and the train always arrives at exactly 5:59 in his hometown of Pleasantville. His chauffeur always pulls up at exactly 5:59. One day Mr. Smith decides to take an earlier train that arrives at 5:34. He gets off the train and starts walking home figuring he will see his driver en route and still get home earlier. He does in fact come across his chauffeur who picks him up and drives him home. You know these facts.
a. The round trip for the chauffeur from Mr. Smith’s home to the train station and back always takes exactly 20 minutes.
b. His chauffer always pulls up to the station exactly at 5:59.
c. After he saw his chauffer they drove home in 6 minutes.
d. Mr. Smith needs to get a clue and buy a cell phone.
How long did he walk from the train station? You have all the information you need to answer this question. This question is worth 3 points. Be the first to answer this question and add one bonus point. Have fun math teachers. Get your best math students to figure this one out.
5) Do NOT submit your answer to question #1 listed above (See rule number one). If you already submitted your answer then you just got sandbagged – you got it wrong. Here is the real question #1. Go back to the Cougar Code again – what are the first four words in code number five?
6) Today is Jeopardy Friday. If you attempt to answer a question and are incorrect then you lose 2 points for your incorrect response (minus two). In other words – if you don’t know the answer – don’t guess. You are better off just staying pat. You lose points if you are wrong. If you already blew this with rule one and five then you just got sandbagged again – your class just got two points subtracted from your total. Sorry. This rule applies to all of today’s questions.
7) The Speedy Trigger Special – The first class to get nailed on the question #1 sandbag rule loses two more points. Sorry – but if this is you – then you just got sandbagged one more time.
8) Be the first class to answer all three questions correctly and earn two bonus points.
9) Be the only class to get all three questions correct and earn two more bonus points. Thus if you are the only class to answer all three correctly - you can gain four points on the field.
10) Monday is the LAST day. Don’t freak out – Monday will not be another scavenger hunt. I’ll be back reading the question(s) live again.
11) Please – no more complaints about rules and/or classes cheating. All complaints today, Monday or Tuesday result in a two point penalty.
12) Bonus question (two points) – find my first name hidden somewhere in the text above. Write down the rule number and the word that appears just before my name. Be the first class to answer this and grab two bonus points.
Lucky #13) Is it 12:20 yet?
