Life on Longwood's Campus

During my first three semesters at Longwood, I was a member of Lancer Steel, the steel pan group on campus.  From that first semester, I realized that music was something I could not give up even though my majors have nothing to do with music.  My love for music was the reason that I joined the Mu Delta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha.   Phi Mu Alpha is a national social music fraternity whose goal is to advance music in America.

Even though we are a social fraternity, we have philanthropy. At least once a semester, we go out and sing to the elderly and sick.  Our philanthropy is different from other organizations because instead of raising money, we use our talents to personally interact with people in need.  It is an truly humbling seeing people's faces light up to the sound of music.

During Family Weekend, Oktoberfest, and Spring Weekend, we can be found at our fried Oreo booth.

Along the same path as the two other organizations, I am also a member of the Longwood Drumline, The Stampede.  I have been playing percussion since 6th grade, and it is a pastime that I cannot give up.  The drumline can be seen at the men's basketball home games and at the Big South tournament as well as at other various events around campus.
