The Judicial branch interprets the constitionality of laws. At the federal level, the Supreme Court has 9 justices or judges who are appointed for life by the President. The Judicial branch also contains federal district courts. If anyone believes that a decision made by a lower court is unconstitutional, they can ask the Supreme Court to hear the case. The Supreme Court has the power to rule that a law passed by the legislature or an act of the executive branch is illegal and unconstitutional.
There is a judicial branch at the state level also that includes a State Supreme Court and state lower courts.
