Detroit Bridge

The Detroit Bridge is one of the main bridges that a lot of people in Cleveland pass every day. It is a well balance structure bridge. The Detroit Bridge was made of steel and concrete. It is a very stable bridge. Many people started building the Detroit Bridge in 1914, and successfully finished four years later in 1918. The King Bridge Company is responsible for building the Detroit Bridge. So, if the bridge so happens to collapse, all eyes will stare at them.

Bridges had cost a lot to be built back in the 1900’s, but not nearly as much as the cost now. In 1914 when the Detroit Bridge was built it costed $5.4million, but today that bridge will be also 3times that. In 2009 dollars the Detroit Bridge would cost $14.5million. That is a lot of money on bridges. Just imagine how many people it takes to build a bridge. It took several hundred people to build the Detroit Bridge. In 1965 they added an additional lane of traffic for the north and south side because they needed more space for all the traffic.

The construction of the Detroit Bridge helped the community a lot. The Bridge was linked to Detroit Ave on the west side to superior Ave on the east side, connecting downtown to the west side. The bridge is sustainable because it was made of steel and concrete, and steel and concrete is recycle meaning that it can be used multiple times.
