Video Production Rationale
Context:
This assignment was completed in the spring 2008 semester for CI 3750 Integrating Media and Technology under the guidance of Mr. Jeff Goodman. This assignment was created so that I could demonstrate my ability to use various technological devices. Together with Shawna Williams, Georgianna Quinney, and Ka Vang, we used a video camera, an mp3 player, computers, the internet, and quick time along with a new video making program to make this video.
Impact: This assignment will help me to demonstrate to my students a new way of making stories come to life while teaching them the various uses of technological devices. Because of my experience in producing this video, I will be able to teach my students how to use a video camera, computers, and other technology. I will be able to teach my students that they can have fun while learning new things and reading new material.

NCDPI Standard 6 Indicator 1
Indicator 1: Teachers understand the basic vocabularies, materials, techniques, and thinking processes of each arts discipline (art, music, theatre, dance).
This standard was met because in order to do this project we had to understand about all aspects of each discipline of the arts. We learned about theatre terms with our storyboard timeline for our movie. We also had to decide on camera angles and lighting. For art, we became familiar with several techniques in the drawing of the characters on our story board and in the design of our costumes we combined information from theatre and art. During our movie we used music to set the tone and create an audial picture of the story. Finally the dance portion was met in the actual movements of the characters which we needed to understand before we could play the parts.

This standard is met because in making and editing this video I demonstrate that I am able to stay abreast of current and emerging technology. This also demonstrates that I am actively pursuing continual growth in the area of technology and all there is to accomplish with various technological tools.
Nets-T II-D
This standard is met because I plan to use this video to teach my students how to use the technology resources available to them. I will use this video to demonstrate that technology in all of its various forms can be used in learning activities and to give my students options when completing assignments.
Nets-T VI-B
This standard is met because this video project will help me to reach children from diverse areas of life. Children with a hearing impairment will be able to see stories come to life that they previously would not be able to hear. Children who learn more from a tactile hands on approach will be able to physically take ownership in this assignment. Children with learning disabilities will be able to work together with other children to produce a video that will enable all to be equally involved. This will also allow students who are above average to assist their peers in the use of technology. All of these things are explained with in the lesson plan attached to the site.
