Classroom Web Page Rationale

Context: This web page was made in my CI 3750 Integrating Media and Technology into the classroom during the Spring Semester of 2008 with the guidance of Mr. Jeff Goodman. This web page was created with links to various other web pages and pictures taken of my son's trip to the zoo.

Impact: This assignment will allow me to have the ability to not only communicate with my students and their parents but it will allow me to introduce them to amazing helpful web sites. Parents will be able to find links to help their children with homework and to be informed with the Calendar about what events are coming up. Children will be able to access all sorts of sites to play educational games.

Nets-T II-B

This standard is met by incorporating learning web sites that correspond to the lessons that we will be working on in my classroom. The students can use technology to learn study habits, math problems, science experiments,as well as a variety of other educational needs.

Nets-T II-C

This standard is met by using multiple web sites as links for my students and their guardians to use to help them with their studies. I researched these sites, evaluated them, and found that they were suitable for use by my students and their parents.

Nets-T II-E

This standard is met by using my calendar page to manage student learning with a weekly reminder of spelling words as well as math fact families to study. Because I will post daily assignments when needed to this site, this will also be a great tool in providing for the student who for what ever reason is unable to attend class on a given day.

Nets-T IV-B

This standard is met by incorporating a media/literacy page into the class web page where I used the internet, Microsoft word, and Microsoft excel to research and demonstrate the affects that computers and the internet have on my students. I believe this research indicates the direction that our society is taking towards becoming heavily reliant on the medium of the internet and computers.

Nets-T V-A

This standard is met by incorporating web site links that will guide other teachers, students, and parents in professional development as well as lifelong learning. These individuals will be able to follow up on information about science, math, spelling, and other subjects that will guide them in their future professional endeavors.

Nets-T V-B

This standard is met by the research that was done for the media/literacy page in that the findings will guide me in continuing to evaluate and reflect on how the internet will be able to correspond to the way I teach my students in the future. With the information gathered in this research, I have learned that I will be able to use the internet to connect and apply information to my students where they live.

Nets-T VI-A

This standard is met by attaching a release form to my picture page for parents to sign so that I may legally post pictures of their children on the internet or use them for other projects that I may be completing.

Nets-T VI-C

This standard was met by attaching a release form on my picture page for students and parents who speak Spanish. There is also a link on my student web page for students of French and other language speaking homes to use to help with translating English words they find difficult to understand.
