This is your first group of benchmark assessments from the following courses: SPE 526 and SPE 522.

For each course, upload the benchmark assessment. Introduce the assignment by using TEXT to type a RATIONALE of how the assignment meets the selected standards. Be sure to use STANDARDS and select from the specified standards that apply to the assignment you have attached. Then, submit each benchmark assignment for evaluation.  Send your instructor an email URL notification.

Find four to six artifacts from your content area classes that demonstrate your expertise in your area of emphasis. Artifacts may include:

• IEPs (names omitted)
• Written papers
• Lab reports
• Power Point presentations
• Lesson Plans
• Journals, etc.

Upload your artifacts.

Do not SUBMIT just use SAVE for all the content artifacts you wish to include.

Developing classroom management skills: (Teaching Toolbox E-Portfolio  (Benchmark Assessment)

1. This portfolio is to preserve what you learned in this class for future use in the classroom. The Benchmark Assessment is comprised of two components:  Classroom Management Plan and Reflective Evaluation.
   1.  Personal Comprehensive Classroom Management Plan
      1. Create a Classroom Management Plan that defines and describes the following:
         1. Philosophical statement (personal philosophy on the importance and commitment to classroom management)
         2. Classroom environment (Room arrangement)
         3. Classroom rules and procedures
         4. Positive behavior supports and reinforcement
         5. Working with families
         6. Instilling self-determination in the students
   2. Reflective Evaluation:
      1. Take the time to reflect on the course topics covered. Reflect on what kind of teacher you would like to be. How are you going to get there? Which topics were the most relevant to you?
         1. Review the course objectives and write a statement about what you learned.
         2. Develop plans for continuing your professional development in the field of special education. Summarize your reflections in a 500-750-word essay.
         3. Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
         4. This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
         5. You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Refer to the directions found in the Student Success Center.
