TAKE-HOME FOLDER (each Monday)

Rather than sending home class work, homework, or tests every day, students will bring home their “Take Home Folder” on Mondays in order for you to look at and talk about the work they have completed the previous week.

The left side of your child’s folder will be labeled “KEEP AT HOME.” Here you will find all daily work or homework completed the previous week.  After reviewing the work, please remove and keep at home. This work does not need to be returned in the folder.

The right side of your child’s folder will be labeled “RETURN TO SCHOOL.” All tests, quizzes, class work, or homework on which a grade was taken, or any additional important communications (notes, reminders, etc.), you will find here.  Please note that you are asked to review the grades/work and sign indicating that you have done so.  This work DOES need to be returned to school along with the folder by Tuesday (or next school day if no school on Tues. or if student is absent).  A signature on this work ensures that you stay aware of your child’s progress.    

Students have been notified that returning their weekly take home folder, signed, is part of their homework each week and should be returned just like homework, with a grade to be given accordingly.  Of course, any date sensitive materials such as notices, study guides, newsletters, etc. that need to be sent home before the folder is scheduled to be sent, will be sent home as needed.    

If there are any questions or concerns about any work/grades, you may place a note in the folder on the “Return to School” side as I check folders every Tuesday for signatures.  I will address you immediately with a note home or phone call as indicated/warranted.

DAILY PLANNER 

At the beginning of the school year, your child will be issued a planner.  It is the responsibility of the student to take care of their planner.   Another planner WILL NOT be provided for students. 

This planner will provide an excellent and consistent place for students to keep up with daily assignments and upcoming tests.  Parents will also have a source to look to for daily assignments and tests. 

Each day students will be responsible for writing down their homework assignments in each subject area and that a parent signs/initials planner indicating work is complete as assigned, per planner. 

Planners will be checked each Friday, and students will receive a homework grade for having planners signed (Monday = 25 pts., Tuesday = 25 pts., Wednesday, and Thursday, etc. for a total homework grade of 100).  Only speaking on my behalf, I do my best to not give homework on Friday/over the weekend.  Occasionally students may  have an assignment or a test to study for.  Failure to write down daily assignments/tests or to obtain parents signature/initials will be reflected in the grade.
