You and I are partners in your child's education and I feel that communication is one important factor in a child's academic and social success. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your student. I can be reached by leaving a message at school at 276-546-1837. I will either return your phone call during my planning time or call/send a message to schedule a meeting.
I can also be reached at my school e-mail address: leslie.powers@leecountyschools.net This may actually be the easiest way to reach me.
You can help to ensure your child will have a successful year in the following ways:
- Make sure your student has had a good night's rest and has had breakfast at home or eats breakfast here at school.
- Make sure your child comes to school with necessary supplies.
- I realize that due to sicknesses, it is sometimes necessary for a child to miss school. However, attendance is very important - a vital part of your child's success. Please try to keep absentees a necessary minimum.
- Please help ensure that your child is to school on time. We begin morning work as soon as your child reaches our room at 8:10. Anytime after that, your child will not only be tardy, but will have missed out on valuable academic time.
- Being a parent myself, I do not like to overwhelm my students with homework. However, it is impossible to not have some homework. Please help your child set up a consistent homework routine and study habits with designed times and places and adult assistance if required. Helping assist your child with homework helps ensure that you are fully aware of what is going on in the classroom.
- Be interested in your child's education and take an active role in what he/she is doing.
- Be sure to notify me of any special concerns/needs regarding your child.
