Photo Essay

Context:

I was able to do this project inside and outside with a digital camera taking pictures of nature around us.  I worked by myself on this project, and uploaded the photos with a powerpoint presentation.

Impact:

I will use this project in my classroom to better understand my students.  Also this project shows that the students think differently and have different ideas about science that is around them.  Every child has different questions that they want answered about science.

Alignment:

I want the students in my class to do this project because I can see the things that they are interested in.

I met standard 15 by encouraging underrepresented groups to engage in the schooling process, especially math and science.  I was able to do this by seeing what students were interested in by their questions and pictures they took.  I was able to utilize community resources by taking pictures of nature and the world outside.  I was able to give personal attention and encouragement to the student of underrepresented groups.  I was able to do this in an open environment and was able to engage in student questions, and was more free to move about and give one on one time.  I used relevant and real-world applications that interested a diverse population because I was able to see different things that the students are interested in.  I also encouraged students of under represented groups to assume leadership roles by taking pictures of nature, and the world around them.
