Rationale:
Context:
In doing this project I used hands-on materials. I used liquids and solids to compare and make mixtures out of them. I used baking soda, salt, and flour for my solid or dry ingredients. I used water, vinegar, and oil for my wet or liquid ingredients. The students were able to see the mixtures when they poured the ingredients into the cup using a teaspoon of each material they wanted to choose.
Impact:
I will use this process skills center in my classroom to see how students graph, and see their reactions if the two objects mix together. Also I am able to see that each child wants to mix something different and they wonder about what happens when the different objects mix together to create some new reaction.
Alignment:
I want the students to learn how to predict and observe the materials that they are using. I also want them to communicate with others about their work.
I met standard 10 by providing active experiences in teaching science by using various questioning skills and developing science processing skills; such as predictind, measuring, inferring, interpreting, analyzing, and synthesizing.
