"I have worked with Sara in developing virtual tutoring services for students in online classes. I approached Sara about the need for such services for online students, and she agreed to find and implement a process for meeting their needs. She was thoughtful in her approach, informed and trained herself in the use of appropriate technologies, and designed a pilot for virtual tutoring. Thanks to her willingness to participate and her skill in  collaborating and communicating with others, the pilot was successful and the virtual tutoring services she provides through her Center will be continued and likely expanded as need for them increases."

-Jeanne Widen, Ph.D.

Faculty Director of Online Education

“Sara shows great passion toward the CTAE, all staff members and clients. I was initially hired as a biology and organic chemistry tutor. Sara consistently provided the tutors with training programs and workshops, documentation, and emails full of materials to help make the center and its tutors more successful in assisting their clients. She completely reinvented the tutoring center and united the center to gain positive rapport throughout the Loyola academic community. During my last semester, I was promoted to a Tutor lead position where I had the opportunity to work closer with Sara on a daily basis. She was always available for questions and consistently wanted feedback from staff in order to make the center even more successful. Her open door policy really provided room for growth and created a friendly atmosphere. I really enjoyed working with Sara on a daily basis and truly think her dedication to the program helps enrich the lives of many students every day.”

"As Director of the Accelerated BSN (ABSN) program of Loyola University Chicago (Maywood Campus) this past academic year, I have had the pleasure of working with Sara Provis.  She has been a tremendous asset to setting up the ABSN tutoring program at the Maywood campus.  Sara was prompt in interviewing prospective tutoring candidates and drafting flyers identifying dates, times and locations for tutoring services.  In addition, Sara met with my Advising Assistant and myself to ensure that a plan for tutoring services was in place for the fall semester.

It is apparent that Sara is committed to her role in providing tutoring services for the nursing students of Loyola University of Chicago.  I am extremely grateful for her wisdom, efficiency and support."

"It has been my pleasure to work with Sara Provis  the last 2 semesters on campus. I do remember my first visit to her office in the fall as I have been trying to establish and fully activate the Arabic tutoring on campus. Sara's cheerful character,  smiles,  welcoming  words, encouragement and great support have been a main drive for me to implement my expectation of the tutoring support for our Arabic program at Loyola.

I can not find the words to thank Sara for her prompt feedback, great communication, and constant suggestions to locate tutors, work schedules, organize times with students, meet our urgent last minutes students' cry for help, coordinate with me, as the instructor, with the tutor, and the students- all done in supportive and organized style. This distinguished manner speaks to Sara's brilliant managerial skills. I was amazed to learn that Sara is new to campus just as I'm yet she is very knowledgeable of the work dynamics and ethics of her center. She works with confidence and professionalism that befits a great institution as Loyola."

-Sawsan Abbadi, Ed.D

"Sara is hardworking and professional but also frank and honest, with a great sense of humor and a sunny and warm personality. It's no coincidence that since Sara has been at the helm, the Tutoring Center has become a campus powerhouse of innovation and student service."

-Meg Kelleher, Disability Specialist

“I have worked with Sara for two years at the Center for Tutoring and Academic Excellence and she has proven to be one of the most caring and involved faculty members I have met at Loyola. She is constantly pursuing ways to better the CTAE by branching out to other departments on campus and allowing more people to take advantage of our services. Through her commitment to the tutoring center, we were able to satisfy more tutoring requests this year than any other year.

Outside of promoting business for the Tutoring Center, Sara goes above and beyond her duties to ensure her employees are satisfied. She has organized several events rewarding CTAE employees for their hard work, like ice skating in Millennium Park. Sara has even assisted beyond the work setting by offering advice and guidance in personal matters, writing letters of recommendation, and setting up connections for students to be successful after graduation. Sara’s efforts to better Loyola’s students and tutoring services are commendable and marks her as one of Loyola’s best faculty members.”

-Taylor Timoteo, LUC Student, Class of 2014

"In my interactions with Ms. Provis she has exemplified a commitment to the mission of being of service to others, stewardship, and flexibility in reaching a population of students who may otherwise be invisible or underserved in our university community. We are grateful to have her support and leadership in serving our students."
