In Spring 2012, I applied for and was awarded the NCLCA Karen Quinn Scholarship. This award allowed me to attend the NCLCA Summer Institute, in Greenville, South Carolina.  During my time at the institute, I received 1:1 guidance from professional mentors in the field of learning assistance. I participated in both small group learning and several independent projects. While at the institute, I wrote the new mission of the Center for Tutoring & Academic Excellence, which can be read here:

"The purpose of the Center for Tutoring and Academic Excellence is to support the mission of Loyola University Chicago by providing academic services and resources which will foster development of skills and attitudes necessary to increase the knowledge and academic independence of all students.  Through collaborative learning services, the CTAE helps to contribute towards student success and the retention efforts that are made by Loyola University Chicago."

The picture above shows Rae Maslana, NCLCA Certification Officer, presenting me with my award.
